  • For all the miscellaneous services, the applicant has to submit his original passport with its photocopy.
  • Documents not in English should be submitted along with certified/official translation of its contents.
  • Fee should be paid as per Consular Fee Schedule.

a. Attestation and Legalization of Documents
General Guidelines
The Consular Section attests civil and commercial documents, including certification of the Seal and Signatures of the designated authority of the Ministry of Foreign Affaires and Cooperation, Government of Kingdom of Morocco.

The documents should be accompanied by an application on plain paper/letter head requesting for the said attestation and stating the purpose therefore. The documents should be submitted in original along with a photocopy. The originals, duly attested, will be returned and the photocopies retained for record. The applicant should also attach a copy of his passport/Identity Card.

Documents not in English should be submitted along with certified/official translation of its contents.

Attestation service will be provided to only those applicants who are covered in the jurisdiction of Embassy of India, Rabat.

Fee should be paid as per Consular Fee Schedule.
 
Documents Originating from India
All documents emanating from India for production in other countries are required to be authenticated by Consular Section of Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi in the first instance and then the documents will be further authenticated by the Embassy of the country concerned before producing the same for attestation by this Embassy.

Documents Originating from Morocco
Documents originating from Morocco will only be accepted after signatures have been duly notarized and then attested by the Ministry Foreign Affaires and Cooperation, Government of the Kingdom of Morocco. This Mission will attest the seal and signature of the authorized representative of the Ministry Foreign Affaires and Cooperation.

b. Marriage of Indians with Foreigners
For Indian Nationals getting married to a foreigner, the following documents are required to be submitted:-

  1. Capacity of Marriage Certificate or Bachelorhood Certificate (this may be in the form of a Capacity of Marriage Certificate Proforma.) stating your current marital status. This is required to be attested by the Indian Mission in the country of your residence. For this purpose you would require two witnesses (holding Indian Passports to accompany you to the Embassy and sign in the presence of the Consular Officer). Your signature will also be made in the presence of the Consular Officer of the Embassy/High Commission/Consulate of India. Full address, phone, and email ID, Identity Card / Passport Number of the applicant as well as witnesses should be there on the affidavit.

  2. Police Clearance Certificate – This can be obtained from an Indian Mission in the country of your residence.

  3. Birth-cum-Nationality Certificate in French – This can be obtained from an Indian Mission in the country of your residence. If you are not a resident of a French speaking country, Embassy of India, Rabat will issue the same.
 
c. Other Miscellaneous Services
Specific procedures, fees, etc. are applicable to other attestation services for documents, such as  property and succession matters, birth/death etc. details of which can be ascertained from the Consular Section.
  • Documents executed in Morocco and territories covered in the jurisdiction of this Embassy should be countersigned by the respective foreign Ministries before attestation by this Embassy.

  • The application form should be accompanied by Passport, copy of stay permit/identity card.

d. Death of Indian Nationals Abroad

  • For sending mortal remains of the deceased to India for last rites, a copy of death certificate in original with one photocopy, letter from mortuary stating that the body has been embalmed properly and sealed in a casket, as per international norms should be sent.

  • Passport of the deceased along with the above documents should be sent to the Embassy for cancellation. The certifications required from the Embassy might vary from country to country. But agencies handling mortal remains are aware of the norms for certifications to be done by the Embassy for transportation of mortal remains and their advice may be followed while requesting for certifications.
 

Sending ashes to India

The following documents should be sent:
  • A letter to the Embassy from the next of kin of the deceased stating date, place and cause of death.
  • A request to the Embassy from the next of kin of the deceased to issue a letter for Customs authorities to facilitate clearance at the airport. In the letter, flight details with detailed itinerary, name of the person carrying the ashes and his relationship with the deceased should also be mentioned.
  • A clear copy of the passport of the deceased containing details like passport number, name, date of birth, place of issue, date of issue and expiry, father's and mother's names, sex, visa, etc.
  • Sealing certificate of Local authorities stating that the container contains only ashes of the deceased and nothing else and that the sealing was done in their presence.
  • Death Certificate issued by the local authorities, duly signed and stamped.
  • Passport of the deceased should be sent to the Embassy for cancellation.

e. Attestation of Power of Attorney (POA)

The applicant is required to affix one photograph at the end of the subject matter on the Power of Attorney (POA), specimen signature below the photograph and the passport details before submitting the application to the Embassy. This photograph along with the Power of Attorney document signed by the applicant must be notarized by a local Public Notary and thereafter authenticated by the Moroccan Ministry of External Relations in case of Moroccan citizens/residents. The stamp/seal of the notary must cover some portion of photograph pasted on the POA. The applicant has to submit one additional identical photograph, original passport with its photocopy with the application form. In case, there are more than one signatory on a POA, the above requirement is to be completed by each individual. If no space is available on the original POA, a separate sheet may be attached as an enclosure to the original POA and should be notarized. The additional photographs must have their names printed on the reverse of the respective photograph.

f. Registration of Birth and Issue of Birth Certificate

In case parents of a child want their child to acquire Indian Citizenship, birth of the child should be registered with the Embassy within one year of the birth of the child. Parents should ensure that they register the birth of their child as soon as possible as delay in registration of birth might create complications in grant of Indian citizenship/passport to their child.

  • Application for registration of birth has to be filled and submitted online.  For applying click here:  After applying online, take a printout and submit the same in the Indian Embassy.
  • The application for registration of birth should be accompanied by all original documents plus one copy each of  the:
    • Passports of both parents
    • Birth Certificate issued by the hospital
    • Registration of Birth of the child issued by the local authorities and English translation of the Birth Certificate
    • Marriage Certificate
    • Sworn Affidavit jointly signed by both the parents declaring that they  have no  objection to the registration of the birth of the baby with the  Indian Embassy as an Indian national and issue of an Indian passport (duly notarized and attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco)
    • A declaration that the Child does not hold the passport of any country
    • Four photos
  • In case the birth certificate is not in English, duly attested English translation of the same should also be submitted.
  • In case there is any correction in the Birth Certificate issued by the local hospital/authorities, any cuttings/overwriting should be got attested.

g. Police Clearance Certificate/Character Certificate

  • Application should be submitted along with a valid passport.
  • Copy of residence permit/stay permit as proof of legal stay.
  • There should have been nothing adverse against the applicant during the period under reference.
  • The procedure for verification by the Embassy might take several weeks.

h. Request for Certificate of Birth

This service will be rendered on the basis of date of birth in the passport subject to usual checks and formalities.
